Autopro is led by an experienced executive team who bring a unique combination of hands-on industry experience and management expertise to the day-to-day operations of the company.

Michael Lane - Chief Executive Officer

As CEO, Michael has built Autopro from a single location and three staff (1990) to its current state with eight Canadian offices. Michael has been instrumental in the development of work processes that allow distributed project teams to function effectively, thereby allowing Autopro to successfully complete much larger projects than any one of our offices could independently. Michael’s technical skills were honed in the early days of his career in a large pulp production facility, where he was employed as an instrument mechanic and later as site distributed control system (DCS) administrator. He continues to serve as a technical mentor for large-scale automation modernization projects in addition to carrying out his responsibilities as CEO.

Bob Beattie, RET - Director, Corporate Governance

Bob, one of the founding partners of Autopro, has over 35 years of experience in the pulp and paper, power generation, utility, and construction industries. He has managed some of Autopro’s largest projects, and serves as a mentor within the organization in the project management and electrical areas. Prior to his current role at Autopro, Bob served as Vice President of Risk Management, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Special Projects and Vice President of Engineering. He is a long-standing member of the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) and served on the council for five years, including tenures as Second Vice President and First Vice President. Bob has an Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma and a Project Management Certificate, both from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Glen Roberts, MBA - Vice President of Business Development

Glen sets the strategic direction of the Business Development team, and is directly accountable to the CEO and Board of Directors to achieve corporate sales and growth objectives. Over the course of his career, Glen has been instrumental in building sales and marketing organizations, based on developing long-lasting customer relationships and building major customer alliances. Prior to joining Autopro, Glen was involved in the oil and gas industry, holding senior positions with both owner/producer and service organizations, and more recently the EPCM sector.  His career began in drilling, completions, operations, and joint ventures, before progressing into more senior management roles in Business Development, Marketing and Human Resources with domestic and international companies. Glen holds an Executive MBA in Management and Human Leadership Development as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and is a Certified Business Coach.

Jason Brown, P.Eng. - Vice President of Operations

In his current role as Vice President of Operations, Jason is responsible for the day to day operational aspects of Autopro’s business. His past position was as the Grande Prairie office Branch Manager where his strong leadership skills benefited the management of both Autopro’s personnel and clients. Jason has managed major projects in several industries including upstream oil and gas and pulp and paper. His background as a journeyman instrument mechanic and technologist allows him to approach automation from a practical field and strong technical engineering perspective. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and an Instrumentation Engineering Technology Diploma (with honors) from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and is a registered Professional Engineer in both Alberta and British Columbia.

Laurie Watters, CHRP - Director of Organizational Effectiveness

As Director of Organizational Effectiveness, Laurie is responsible for aligning effective Human Resources practices with overall organization goals, and corporate strategy. She leads the strategic development and application of HR processes, and provides ongoing support and mentoring to our operational leaders to improve both our staff experience and project delivery performance. Laurie obtained her HR Management Diploma (with distinction) from Grant MacEwan University in 1999, her Certified Human Resources Professional designation in 2004, Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education, University of Alberta in 2007 and Certified Compensation Professional designation, 2007. Laurie has over 25 years of industry experience and 20 years in HR related roles. She is a member of Human Resources Institute of Alberta, Canadian Society of Training and Development, and World at Work.
