Automation Field Engineer/Technician (DeltaV)

Position Profile

This position is intended for a resident of Fort McMurray only. This role includes commissioning and planned support services for DeltaV.

Position Accountabilities

System Configuration
Configure control strategies, shutdown keys and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs); Develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) graphics based on client's defined Operator Interface standards; Configure interfaces with third party products (PLCs, HMIs, OPC Clients, Historians).

Verification and Acceptance Testing
Develop and participate with internal Hardware and Software QA/QC testing programs; Support System Integration Functional Testing (SIFT); Lead clients in vendor Hardware and Software Acceptance Testing.

Plant Commissioning
Perform Loop checks and troubleshoot field instrumentation.

Troubleshoot all aspects of functionality of DeltaV hardware and software; Act on behalf of the end client to interface with system vendor(s) for timely resolution of all defects and deficiencies.

Documentation
Provide high quality written documentation;

Act as the Client's Representative
Lead system support initiatives, acting as the end client's representative for software and hardware upgrades, integration to other systems, migrations, optimization and system expansion; Provide technical support during system shutdown and start-up activities

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or Chemical Engineering (CPC), or related Engineering Technologist Diploma
  • 2 to 10 years of experience with DeltaV platform
  • Previous experience working at an Oil Sands facility would be an asset.
  • Experience related to Honeywell DCS would be an asset.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency of MS Office (Word and Excel) is essential
  • Proven customer focused practices
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
