Project Manager - Industrial Automation

Position Profile

The Project Manager will plan, execute, and finalize industrial automation engineering project(s) according to agreed to budgets, schedules, quality standards and cost. This includes allocating tasks to resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the projects’ objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Key Business Development focus is to satisfy the customer and to identify scope change opportunities where Autopro can bring value to the customer.

Candidate Accountabilities

  • Fully responsible for project planning, execution and management of entire industrial automation project lifecycle
  • Project budget(s) to be managed - up to $ 5M
  • Participate in project handover meetings to ensure full understanding of project expectations and business development objectives from sales team
  • Identify project risks, and develop risk responses that maximize opportunities and minimize threats
  • Develop full-scale project plans and communicate, document and record accordingly
  • Actively direct the appropriate use of company work and process flow standards, establish project metrics and measure progress against them, project tracking and control and project tools and templates
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Identify any project requirements that violate company directives and objectives
  • Participate in the assignment, follow-up, solving and escalation of any customer service requests and contribute towards the maintenance of a solutions knowledge base
  • Review and understand contractual agreements to ensure project fully supports and adheres to the contractual requirements
  • Conduct project post mortems and create recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Identify business development and sales opportunities as they relate to a specific existing project
  • Participate in the development of scope of work, cost estimate, schedule development, and key assumptions within business development proposals

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences or Certified Engineering Technologist or Registered Engineering Technologist designation

  • 7+ years of progressive success of engineering experience in large industrial automation environments

  • 3 + years of progressive success of Project Management experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred
